Junior Blasters at McKinnon Cricket Club

Introduce your child to cricket in a fun, inclusive setting. Junior Blasters is the entry point to Woolworths Cricket Blast for young beginners who learn the basics through upbeat, game-based activities. The focus is fun, confidence, and friendships as they build skills that lead into Master Blasters and junior cricket.

Recommended age: 5 to 8 years

Junior Blasters is part of the national Woolworths Cricket Blast pathway and is designed to get kids moving, smiling, and learning the fundamentals. 

What to expect

Each session is fast-paced and activity-packed. Kids rotate through stations that teach catching, throwing, batting, bowling, and teamwork in a safe, supportive environment. All core equipment is supplied on the day. Parents are encouraged to get involved on the sidelines or at activity stations. 

Session length

Junior Blasters typically runs for about 90 minutes per session. 

What is included with registration

Every Blaster receives a participant pack through the Woolworths Cricket Blast program. Packs may include items such as a Blast shirt and hat, and some programs offer additional starter items. Details can vary by pack type and program.

Places are limited. Registrations are essential to secure a spot.

Junior Blasters uses soft, child-safe equipment in an inclusive environment so every child can participate at their own pace.

Is prior cricket experience required?
No. Junior Blasters is designed for first-timers and developing players. 

Do I need to buy gear?
No. Session equipment is supplied. Your child’s participant pack comes through the national program after registration. 

Can parents get involved?
Yes please. Parent help makes sessions run smoothly and keeps the energy high.
