McKinnon Cricket Club is proud to offer a vibrant junior program that welcomes boys and girls of all ages and abilities. Our aim is to provide every child with the opportunity to learn, grow, and enjoy their cricket in a supportive and family-friendly environment.

Local Connections and Coaching

Our junior community is drawn from schools such as McKinnon, Bentleigh Secondary and St Bede’s, with many players also involved in footy at St Paul’s. The program is overseen by our Club Coach, Sam Kindlen, a Level 3 accredited coach, together with a dedicated team of junior coaches and volunteers. With Sam’s expertise and the commitment of our coaches, players are given high-quality guidance to improve their skills and foster a love of the game.

Turf Cricket and Player Pathways

A key strength of our program is the chance for juniors to train and play on turf wickets at McKinnon Reserve. Turf cricket provides a richer experience than synthetic surfaces and helps prepare young players for the challenges of senior cricket. The junior program also offers a clear pathway into senior teams, with many players successfully progressing while continuing to enjoy the supportive club environment.

Teams for 2025/26

For the 2025/26 season, McKinnon will field sides across all age groups. Rookies and Under 12 Mixed teams play on Saturday mornings, Under 14B and Under 16B teams compete on Friday evenings, and the Under 18s take part in the Wednesday night T20 competition.

Training and Matches

Pre-season training begins on Sunday 7 September at McKinnon Reserve. Sessions continue on Sunday mornings throughout September before moving to weeknights in October once daylight savings begins. Matches are held weekly during the season in line with each age group’s competition.

Uniforms

Club uniforms are ordered through this link during designated shop windows. Families are encouraged to place orders early to ensure players are ready for the season.

Registrations

Registrations for all juniors are now open through the McKinnon Cricket Club website. Every child is welcome, and no player is ever turned away.
